About Us

Troop 8 is a Scouting America troop charted by American Legion Post 217 in Atkins Iowa.

Troop 8 has existed since 2000.  It started on the Northeast side of Cedar Rapids and in 2026 moved to it's current home at Salem United Methodist Church on 33rd Avenue SW.

Troop 8 is a Family Troop.  It is made up of both male and female Scouts

Troop 8 is a Scout-Lead Troop, where the Scouts elect their leaders and plan and run all of the meetings and activities.

Troop 8 camps out nine or more times a year in various sites, such as Eagle Cave and Camp Wakonda.

Troop 8 helps Cub Scouts earn belt loops and requirements at various Troop and Pack meetings.
